I know alot of people here are not into there techno.
I am and I dj myself. But have to say any techno / dance night I have gone to in Ireland or Europe, there great every one gets on, very rarely there is fighting,constanly chatting with strangers.

but when I go to the local night club its terrible ,
U go in to packed placed everyone is drinking them selfs senseless, there is fights, glasses been smashed, And there is one night club i use to go to, every nite they open they play the same setlist, and they have a person standing at the turntables or Cd decks, Pressing stop and play for each track, and they get paid for this. To be honest anybody can press a button,

I can hear it now, a German DJ's booming monotone voice over a headwrecking "untsa untsa" beat that really just sounds like a humingbirds heartbeat played on loop to a Casio keyboard backingtrack. I'm playing down in the Liquid Lounge on Marlborough St tomorrow night myself, starting off with a DJ set at 10pm when the doors open, there'll be another DJ after that, and I'll be ending the night from 1am till 2am with a 1hr live house/techno set with, like, laptop and keyboards and stuff.
And I'll be bringing down a few copies of my album as well, actually, a whole batchload of them, free for the first 50 people that come in the door.
And no Shakira/Beyonce/Rhianna/other crappy shit R&B music at all, at all, at all. Can't say for sure about the quality of the bouncers, though.

I NEVER go to nightclubs that fit your eloquent description anymore (birthdays, miscellaneous other parties, entire bottles of Jagermeister notwithstanding). They are utter shite.

You're so right. Nothing can beat the communal buzz you get in a club with some quality tunes. I saw Erol Alkan in The Vic three times. Epic stuff. Endless hugs with dodgy strangers. A hive of sweaty but delirious rubber faced gimps. Huzzah!
